In a previous post, I had told you about an option to take a cheaper flight: Plattsburg airport. But I would hate not to talk about his big brother: the Burlington airport. In fact, unlike the Plattsburg airport, Burlington Airport is very well established. You certainly know people who have already used the services of this airport. Personally, all my last flights to the United States were made via this airport. What for? Here are the reasons.
But why go to this airport when we have an international in Montreal you say?
- Cost of flights – not bad cheaper!!
I am asking you to do the exercise. Use a search engine (e.g. Travelocity) and search for your flight from Montreal to your destination in the USA and from Burlington to your destination in the USA. And yes!! You see the difference in cost. And don’t forget to watch the low-cost companies departing from there (ex: Jet Blue) who have no alliance with Travelocity or Expedia. Note: This is true especially for flights to the United States (USA) Less true for flights to South America or Europe.
- Cost of parking
The cost of parking is less and by far if you look at the equivalent at Trudeau Airport (i.e. parking is covered and attached to the airport). I am not asking you to take my word for it, specifically the figures. The cheapest category at the Montreal airport is the Econo Park and the price is $12 per day or $72 per week. At this price, it is an outdoor parking and you have to take the shuttle. At the Burlington airport the prices are as follows for a covered parking (very convenient in winter and annexed to the airport:
1e 1/2heure – Free
2nd 1/2heure – $1.00
$1.00 per hour for overtime to ´
Day Rate: $8.00 for the first 10 days,
$7.00 per day from day 11.
- Customs Passage
According to the customs, you will pass, it seems to me a lot less time to pass the customs ‘ terrestrial ‘ rather than to do it at the Montreal Trudeau Airport
Well, these are the main reasons. Is that far away? If you consider the difficulties you may have to get to the Trudeau airport (because of traffic), the weather is not so much longer. But honestly, usually, you do not choose this airport for a shorter time but for the opportunity to save money and to steal cheaper.
Direction from Montreal
From Montreal (156 km, 2 hours)

Why not include this option in your next travel planning for the United States (USA)? It will make you a cheaper trip or more money to enjoy your trip. A small helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon with the money you have saved?
