I told you about low-cost airlines whose best-known names are probably Ryan Air and JetBlue. Here’s a bit of additional information you should know.
Reason 1: First come, the lowest price
As I mentioned, these companies are used to rewarding the traveller who reserves in advance. So advice booked as much as possible your flights in advance. The risk is worth the money saved in my opinion.
Reason 2: Smaller airport
For airlines, using airports cost a fee. So the more the airport loosens a lot of people, the more services they offer, the more expensive it will cost the airline to land there. One of the ways in which these Low-cost companies cut costs is often by landing in smaller airports (e.g. Orly in Paris versus Charles de Gauls). In terms of transportation, don’t worry. These companies are so popular that transport infrastructures are being put in place.
Reason 3: Baggage
You have to pay attention to the closets in relation to baggage. For example, when you look at the Ryan Air site, the tickets will look less expensive than EasyJet’s. If you travel with baggage to be checked (which is often our case), you will have to pay an additional fee. While EasyJet, in its basic cost, takes for granted that you will put a baggage in the hold (you can abstain and lower your cost). Pay Attention to the price per extra kilo also.
Reason 4: Attention to Insurance
They might try to sell you extra insurance. Find out because often your credit card or insurance company already covers you.
I would say that these are the most important points to mention. I’ll only talk about EasyJet as it’s the only one I’ve tried. The beauty is that unlike some airlines that we know, we do not find ourselves with big hidden charges. For example, on EasyJet, at the base price we add a tax (not like our!!!) and that’s it!
I hope that this additional information will have helped you.
