Montreal is known for its festivals and in the course of the coming months, TRAVELPRE will publish material about it. But for those who think visiting the beautiful city of Montreal during the next summer, did you know that the city also has an international fireworks competition? This contest is certainly one of the city’s gems.
The Fireworks cuckoo is called the Loto-Québec International Fire and has been in existence since 1985. The contest starts normally at the end of June and ends at the beginning of August. Fires normally take place on Saturdays and some are held on Wednesdays.
What is it? These are nine countries competing to offer the most beautiful fireworks. Every evening, a country presents its fireworks accompanied by music. At the end of the contest, a country is crowned the champion. The best firms in the world come to represent their country and hope to win the renowned trophy: the Jupiter.
How to see them?
Of course, the lights are visible from different places in Montreal without paying. We can think of the Jacques-Cartier bridge which is closed for this occasion, in the old port, at the summit of Mount Royal, etc.
On the other hand, to really enjoy the experience and the music that accompanies the fires, it is better to go to the site of the fires, or to the round (large amusement park at the entrance of Montreal).
You think you’re in Montreal this summer, you definitely have to see one of these fires.
