The economic situation means that many may decide not to travel this summer. According to the Associated Press, among the Americans, it would seem that 56% of the population would have decided not to travel this summer.
On the other hand, many will trade the trip by plane for a trip by car. For those who will decide to go on vacation on the road, here are some tips to save money and that your trip costs you a little cheaper.
Keep an eye on tourist information centres
Arriving at your destination make sure you visit a welcome centre. In these information centres, you will often find coupons for some hotels and tourist attractions.
Hunting for bargains on the internet before leaving
Check the sites of hotels and other travel sites before leaving. By booking in advance your activities, your hotels, you could save money to be committed in advance. Reservations via sites like Travelocity and Expedia could also save you money. The price for your nights is often not the same on the web as in person.
Don’t forget your privièges cards (ex: CAA car Club) that could save you money.
Bring a Cooler
When you choose to travel by car, food is often your biggest expense. So the more you go to buy food at the Épîcerie and the more you will save.
Negotiate the price when possible
Hotels and motels may not be crowded this summer. So if the parking seems empty, feel free to ask for a discount. You might be surprised to see the result. After all, if they don’t want you can always knock at the door of the nearby hotel
Depending on where you visit it could happen that a pass exists. Often the pass is good for a few days and gives you free access to several attractions and means of transportation. In our previous chronicles, we had also talked about two passes which seemed interesting to us to consider.
